Get Your Home Ready For the Holidays

September 23, 2014

Whether we like it or not, the holidays are approaching – and fast! With just over a month until Halloween, it’s time to start getting your home ready for the fall and winter holidays. Use these holiday decorating tips to ensure that you get the most out of this holiday season in your Heritage Custom Home.

Take Advantage of Holiday Colors

Each holiday has their respective colors, so take advantage of the various colors and shades throughout your home. There are so many ways to introduce holiday colors throughout your home:

  • Candles
  • Throw pillows
  • Blankets
  • Artwork
  • Furniture
  • Kitchenware
  • Clothing
  • Signage

Be sure to vary the colors and shades in your home. Too much of one particular color can seem tacky, so mix it up a bit!

During the holidays, our family, friends, coworkers and other company will come over to have a good time and enjoy the celebration. However, if your home is cluttered it will detract from the purpose of the event.

Before having guests over, get rid of all the clutter in your home. In addition, be sure not to arrange your holiday decorations in a manner that will cause even more clutter and frustration!

Rearrange Furniture

Have company coming over to celebrate the holiday season? Be sure to rearrange your furniture to allow for free flowing conversation. Not only will this encourage your family and friends to converse and have a great time, but it will also provide a comforting, warm holiday feel to your home.

Add Your Personal Touch

Whether you have a holiday decoration passed down from previous family generations, or there is a particular holiday dinner plate you greatly enjoy, be sure to use it when preparing your home for the holidays. The more personal touch you can add to your decorations, the better!
